Product Description

The clamp meter, also known as a clamp ammeter, is an instrument for measuring the current in electrical circuits. Compared with ammeters and multimeters, the advantage of a clamp meter is that it does not require disconnecting the circuit when measuring current. Clamp meters can be divided into two categories: pointer clamp meters and digital clamp meters. Pointer clamp meters use the internal ammeter pointer to indicate the current being measured; digital clamp meters use digital measurement circuits to process the current being measured and then display the current in digital form on the display.

Current clamps measure current, while probes measure voltage. Integrating an articulated jaw into an electrical instrument allows a technician to securely clamp onto a wire, cable, or conductor anywhere in an electrical system, making it easy to measure the current in a circuit without disconnecting or removing power. Thus, a clamp meter is an electrical test tool that combines a basic digital multimeter with a current sensor.
